McHenry County, Illinois announces Integrated Software Specialists, Inc. (ISS) will replace its Case Management System using ISS' iCase and SOA Framework Technology
| |
McHenry County
,
Illinois
approved the selection of ISS to replace its current court information system. This new system will be web-based, configurable and workflow oriented. The system will be designed and developed using iCase, ISS' case management automation platform. The iCase platform is used by ISS to customize case management systems in a variety of industries. iCase is a component of ISS' iOpen, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) based, business solution framework.
"This project will be in two phases.", indicated Vernon Kays, Jr., Circuit Clerk for
McHenry
County
. "The first phase will upgrade our current capabilities utilizing a new more person-friendly interface with advanced productivity features. The second phase will integrate our States Attorney's Office, Public Defender and Court Services into the system; providing them with functionality not available to them today. This will make our overall case processing significantly more efficient."

ISS' iOpen Framework provides standardized building blocks for the development of a State-of-the-Art Integrated Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) for
McHenry
County
| |
iOpen utilizes SOA technology. This framework provides the basis for building applications on-time and within budget, lowering overall risk of the application development process. iOpen is made up of powerful reusable modules, integrating proprietary and open source technology. The iOpen framework also includes an Enterprise Services Bus (ESB) for easy, efficient integration of systems / applications across departments and existing legacy systems. ISS has leveraged this same framework to deliver similar case management solutions for other industries. A note-worthy example is the award winning "Illinois National Electronic Disease Surveillance System" (I-NEDSS). ISS designed and delivered I-NEDSS for the State of
Illinois
, Department of Public Health.
"We are excited about bringing the power and capabilities of iOpen to the Criminal Justice Industry.", said Michael Locascio, Founder and CEO of ISS. "Over the past couple of years, we have learned that this area has been seriously under-served. Only a few County and State agencies have implemented integrated court and criminal justice information systems. We are delighted to be working in partnership with
McHenry
County
to provide them with a state-of-the-Art solution, and we are looking forward to working with other counties in the State of
Illinois
and beyond." The resulting solution will be called iJustice. It is targeted for initial release in mid to late 2008. | |
Mr. Kays explained, "
McHenry
County
is implementing this new system with court funds, thereby negating the need to draw upon the citizen's tax dollars."
